Piercing Care Guide
Aftercare in 9 Easy Steps
Here’s everything you need to know to keep your new piercing happy, healthy, and hella cute.
1
Clean in the shower
Use clean, running water and unscented soap or our custom-made Sea Salt Soap to gently dab & clean the area (front and back) twice daily for the first week. After that, less is more.
2
Pat it dry
Use a clean paper towel or tissue to dab dry. No bath towels – they’re full of germs and bacteria and threads can hook on your piercing.
3
Spray & dab
Spritz our Piercery Healing Spray onto the front and back. Gently dab away the excess with a paper towel and let it air dry.
4
Keep the bump at bay
Got a bump? Try a soak using our SOS Spray – it works wonders! Drench some cotton wool with SOS Spray and apply to your affected area. Leave for 10 mins, twice a day. You can also come in-store for a No Pull Piercing Disc or our piercing bump oil!
5
What’s totally normal
Yellowish-white discharge
Dry crustiness
Some bruising or bleeding
Tightness or swelling
Itching and tenderness
6
Don’t overdo it
Balance is key. Clean enough to remove build-up, but not so much that you irritate the piercing.
Don’t pick at it… it’s not a scab,
it’s healing tissue babe!
7
Stay dry-ish
Showering? Great. Baths, pools, ocean waves? Not just yet. And if you do, be sure to rinse and spray your ear immediately after a swim with Healing Spray.
8
Doughnut Pillow to the rescue!
Use our Doughnut Pillow to avoid sleeping on your piercing.
Also avoid bumping your piercing as this trauma will cause flare-ups, swelling and even piercing bumps.
9
Healing takes time
Healing is not a linear journey. It’s an individual experience and depends on how well YOU look after your piercing. Lobes take approx. 2 months and everything else is approx 3 to 12 months.

- Don’t use alcohol, peroxide, pure tea tree oil, or harsh products.
- Don’t sleep on it (get a Doughnut Pillow).
- Don’t ghost us. Come see us when it’s time to downsize.
- And again for the people in the back: DON’T TOUCH.
Downsizing 101
You were pierced with a longer post to give your piercing room to breathe and swell while it healed. If the swelling’s down and there’s no more redness, pain, or discharge, it might be time to downsize.

Common Aftercare Questions
How do I look after my jewellery?
- Treat your jewellery like the little treasure it is. Avoid lotions and potions where possible like hair products or perfumes that may contain reactants.
- All our jewellery is tarnish-free, but giving them a little extra love keeps them looking their best. For everyday cleaning, use a dry, soft cloth. For a deeper clean, gentle soap and warm water will do the trick (just make sure to dry them properly after). You can also pop in-store and let us clean your jewellery for you in our hydrosonic cleaners.
How do I remove my jewellery at home?
- If your piercing is internally threaded it can be loosened by unscrewing it. Remember: Lefty loosey, righty tighty. Unscrew the top by turning it anti-clockwise to loosen, and clockwise to tighten it back.
- Got a threadless top? Just push it in until it feels snug and secure. When removing, pull the top and post apart gently but firmly. (If you're unsure, feel free to pop in and we’ll help you out.)

How do I insert my jewellery?
