REFUND POLICY

THE PIERCERY: RETURNS, EXCHANGES, AND REFUND POLICY

  1. OVERVIEW

At The Piercery South Africa, we are committed to providing high-quality products while maintaining strict hygiene and safety standards.

This policy complies with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and applies to all purchases made in-store and online.

  1. IMPORTANT NOTICE (YOUR RIGHTS UNDER THE CPA)

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.

Customers may return goods under the following circumstances:

  • Defective goods within 6 months (Section 55 & 56 CPA)
  • Direct marketing / online cooling-off within 5 business days (Section 16 CPA)
  • Goods that are not as described, not of expected quality, or not fit for purpose (Sections 19 & 20 CPA)
  1. CHANGE OF MIND / UNWANTED GOODS

We do not offer refunds for change of mind.

At management discretion, we may allow an exchange or store credit provided that:

  • The item is unused, unworn, and unopened
  • The item is in original packaging with all seals intact
  • The item is in a fully resellable condition
  • Proof of purchase is provided

Approved returns will be processed as:

  • Store credit, or
  • Exchange

No cash refunds will be issued for change of mind.

  1. HYGIENE & NON-RETURNABLE ITEMS (STRICT POLICY)

Due to the nature of our products and infection control standards, the following items are non-returnable and non-exchangeable, except where defective:

  • All piercing jewellery
  • Earrings
  • Any item inserted into the body
  • Any item that has been worn, used, or opened
  • Any product that cannot be safely sanitized or resold

Once packaging is opened, items are considered hygiene-compromised and cannot be returned.

This is in line with health, safety, and public protection standards.

 

  1. ONLINE & DIRECT SALES (COOLING-OFF PERIOD)

In terms of Section 16 of the CPA and applicable electronic transaction laws:

Customers may cancel an online or direct sale within 5 business days of delivery, provided:

  • The item is unused and unopened
  • The item is in original packaging
  • The item is resellable as new

Please note:

  • Return courier costs are for the customer’s account
  • reasonable handling/restocking fee may be charged
  • Hygiene restrictions still apply (opened items cannot be returned)
  1. DEFECTIVE GOODS (6-MONTH WARRANTY)

All products carry a 6-month implied warranty under the CPA.

If a product is defective, unsafe, or not of acceptable quality, you may choose:

  • Repair
  • Replacement
  • Refund

This does not apply where the defect is caused by:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Misuse, negligence, or improper care
  • Unauthorised alterations

The Piercery South Africa reserves the right to inspect the product to verify the defect.

  1. GOODS DAMAGED OR INCORRECT ON DELIVERY

If your order is incorrect or arrives damaged:

  • Notify us within 48 hours of delivery
  • We will arrange collection at no cost to you
  • A replacement or refund will be processed after inspection
  1. RETURNS PROCESS

To initiate a return:

  2. Provide:
    • Order number
    • Description of the issue
    • Photos (if applicable)

Once approved:

  • We will advise return instructions
  • Returns must be securely packaged

Processing timelines:

  • Refunds: within 14 days of approval
  • Exchanges: within 20 days, subject to stock availability
  1. PROOF OF PURCHASE

All returns and claims must include:

  • Original receipt, or
  • Valid proof of purchase

Returns without proof of purchase may be declined.

  1. DEFINITION OF UNUSED

“Unused” means:

  • The item has not been worn or inserted into the body
  • The item has not been opened in a way that affects resale
  • The item remains in original, sealed condition
  1. GENERAL CONDITIONS
  • All returns are subject to inspection and approval
  • The Piercery South Africa reserves the right to refuse returns that do not meet policy requirements
