Piercing 101

What Is a Professional Piercing?

A professional piercing means you’re being pierced by someone trained, experienced, and using the right tools in a sterile and controlled space.

At The Piercery, that looks like:

Single-use needles (never guns)
316l Surgical Steel, Implant-grade Titanium or solid gold jewellery
Strict hygiene protocols from start to finish

No DIY energy. No funny business. Just clean technique, safe practices, and piercers who know exactly what they’re doing.

Piercing Types

From first-timers to seasoned stackers, here’s the lowdown on what we pierce (and why you might love it):

Lobes

The classic starting point. Great for a first piercing, second holes and stacking. Stacks are a great way to fix a-symmetrical lobes - chat to a piercer about this.

Helix

A piercing on the outer rim of your ear. Clean, cute, and always a fan favourite.

Conch

A piercing in the bowl-shaped area of the inner ear. Adds a little edge and instant interest. Check out a Double Conch if you’re brave!

Tragus

Small and subtle, but packs serious style points.

Daith

Popular because it’s one of the few you can start with a hoop! And they’re pretty at that. Plus she’s a GREAT healer because this is nestled inside your ear bowl.

Flat Helix

The flat space around the traditional Helix, anatomy dependant. Great space for stacking!

Rook, Forward Helix, Snug

A little more bold, a little more badass.

Nostril & Septum

A piercing that’s forever iconic. Classics don’t die.

Not sure what’s calling your name?

We’ll help you figure it out and get it just right – placement, jewellery, all of it!

Jewellery Basics

We only use jewellery that’s safe, stylish, and made to last:

316l Surgical Steel

The best you get at affordable prices, a fantastic starting point

Titanium

Implant-grade, hypoallergenic, lightweight

Solid Gold Jewellery (9ct &14ct)

Pure sparkle that won’t tarnish without the nickel

PVD Plating

PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) plating is a thin-film coating process used to enhance the properties of jewellery. It is known to be durable, corrosion resistant and aesthetically beautiful.

Flat-backs

Designed for comfort, especially while healing

Clickers & Hoops

Seamless rings for comfort. Generally for healed piercings only (except the Daith)
We’ll help you choose the perfect piece for your anatomy and style. You can upgrade anytime, but we always start you off with jewellery that gives your piercing the best possible start.

What to Expect at The Piercery

The vibe? Always calm, supportive, and super sterile.

• We chat through what you’re after and check that it suits your anatomy.

• You pick your jewellery (aka the fun part). We’re there to style & curate!

• We clean, mark, and double-check placement together.

• Deep breath, quick pinch, and just like that, it’s done!

• Aftercare tips, aftercare products secured, and you’re good to go.

We’re here to make sure you feel fantastic – before, during, and after your piercing.

Healing & Aftercare Essentials

Healing takes time – but you’ve got this (and we’ve got you).

  • Clean your piercing twice daily with our healing spray for a week or two (less is more).
  • No twisting, turning, or touching. Seriously. Hands off.
  • Try not to put pressure/sleep on your new baby (check out our Piercing Doughnut Pillows – they work like a dream!)
  • No swimming, steam rooms or saunas for a few weeks
  • Don’t remove the jewellery unless we’ve said it’s good to go.

If anything feels weird, give us a shout. Check-ups are always free, and we’re always here for questions, bumps, or just a bit of reassurance.

We only do piercings we’re proud of, and that means helping yours heal the right way!
